A downloadable game for Windows

I am making a survival space game with procedurally generated planets in a simulated solar system from scratch.

Right now the game is basically a walking simulator with bugs. I've been working on it for about a month but wanted to get feedback and document the progress for other developers or interested players.

Features

  • Walk and fly around a big procedurally generated planet with water and trees.
  • Entire planets are procedurally generated with an LOD system so areas far away are not as detailed.
  • Basic spawning of trees when the player is close to the ground (no collision yet).
  • Custom sky atmosphere shader and stupidly simple water shader.
  • Game is coded from scratch so expect bugs and weird stuff. But also amazing and experimental features in the future.

Plans

My vision for the game is big so I'm going to break it down in stages. The first stage is what you see today, a very basic walking simulator on a planet.

I will continue to iterate and improve on the procedural generation with different biomes, trees, plants, minerals, animals, structures, etc. And eventually build out the survival gameplay features like crafting, base building, combat, and more.

TheLastWanderer.zip 4.4 MB

Install instructions

Recommended Specs: 8+ Core CPU, dedicated graphics card, 8 GB RAM. (I have a 13900K and there is a little stuttering when moving fast FYI)

Download and unzip the file. When you run the exe file you need to agree to the Windows publisher security warning.

You can run it anywhere but keep the 'assets' folder next to the executable.
